You may be aware that there’s quite a few people who use the internet to sell (or pretend to sell) male potency and penis enlargement treatments. One of these (and you have to believe me when I say that I did not know this until I Googled it about a minute ago) is a pill named Vimax. For reasons that aren’t entirely clear to me, it would seem like WordPress is a prime marketplace for hawking these pills, judging from the volume of spam comments I receive containing URLs and emails featuring the brand name at least.
So far the best ones have come from Brazil. Two in particular are worth quoting. The first, seemingly relevant to my Networking post to which it was a “response”, betrays its real purpose soon enough…
“Sounds like some thing lots of baby boomers need to study. The feelings of neglect are there in a lot of levels when a single is over the hill.”
Now I’m the first to acknowledge that medieval history and archaeology is more hip replacement than hipster, but this seems to be making some unsubstantiated assumptions about my, er, quality of life that are well wide of the mark.
The second spam comment from a Brazilian admirer stands out for its wonderful turns of phrase:
“Hi I am so cock-a-hoop I initiate your web place, I unqualifiedly bring about you at hand error, while I was looking on Yahoo with a view something else, Regardless I am here moment and would even-handed like to suggest cheers in the course of a fanciful record and a all bullet riveting blog (I also taste the theme/design), I don’t have time to look exceeding it all at the before you can say ‘jack robinson’ but I have planned saved it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I be experiencing outmoded I inclination be back to look over a huge sell more, Please do shut in up the fabulous job.”
Er, thanks. Leaving readers “cock-a-hoop” should become the stated aim of this blog.
(A few days later I got another from a very similar username saying more or less the same thing, but its wording is not quite as charming as the above – “Anyhow I am here moment and would straight like to suggest cheers after a impressive postal service and a all tour inviting blog (I also taste the theme/design)” runs it pretty close.)
