Edward Bawden, ‘Trees and Cows’ (1927)

I came across this yesterday while browsing the cards in the shop at the Royal Academy. It caught my eye because the field boundaries, although part of a regular grid, dog-leg like many medieval hedges, and evokes the mosaic of pasture fields and trees of the Weald. Perhaps it’s time to find out more about Bawden’s life and work.
